Today, Saturday, we lost one of the all time greatest singers of my generation. It was announced that at 3:22 (pct) an emergency call from the Beverly Hilton to 911 Dispatch was made. Ironically, today is also the eve before the Grammy’s and Clive Davis is hosting his annual Pre-Grammy Party at the Beverly Hilton, so the Fire Department was already on site. 911 Dispatch reported that EMT workers arrived within 2 minutes of the call and when EMTs reached the person in distress, Firefighters were already performing life saving procedures. At 3:55 (pct) the distressed person was pronounced dead. Dead at 48 years old! That person, that beautiful person was Whitney Houston. My heart aches, my eyes weep, my stomach turns and my prayers are many. Prayers, that she find the peace, she seemed to so desperately need but was always out of reach for her. Prayers for the Daughter, Mother, Family & Friends she leaves behind…
yet, I suspect will always be with her as she with them. Prayers for Mr. Clive Davis….it was commonly known, even to the “nobodys” of the world, like myself, he loved her as a daughter. It must be, for Mr. Davis, such a heart-wrenchingly painful ordeal… knowing that Whitney’s body lay lifeless on the 4th floor while a party, she was expected to attend, continues below her. Just as Michael Jackson’s songs were a soundtrack to events in my life, so is the same for Whitney’s music. I can hear a song and go immediately to another time and place in my life. I was happier then. I wonder if these artists ever truly know how much power they have; to the average person their music can and does express every emotion, feeling, and aspiration of the masses. Universally, they give us the courage and strength to get through times of crisis or even just another average day. Their voices soar and in doing so, as the listener, they take us with them. Much love and respect to Whitney Houston. Thank you for The Greatest Love Of All. Rest in Peace.

TO WHITNEY
This sadness I have inside
Brings me down, makes me cry
We’ll miss that infectious smile
and that sparkle in your eyes
Your voice from the deeps of your sole
Took us to a special place
that only you …Whitney could make us go
We shall…. forever remember
Your name, your music
The inspiration, the voice
We shall…miss thee Whitney
We shall…miss thee Whitney
Your inner beauty we behold
It brought warmth in times…of cold
Whether your sang a hymn or our Anthem
You made us dance and feel right
Now God has called upon you
To sing your song, shine your light… to him
We will always love you
For…. the places you took us too
We rejoice as our thoughts of you
Upon that mountain up high
And it shall always.. make us fly
